Pinterest is the latest craze in social media and up to last week I had never looked at it, hadn’t thought much about it and even wasn’t sure why it would be useful to me. The BlogWorld Expo completely changed that for me. Before the Expo, I knew what Pinterest was and a bit about how it worked, but had never found why I should be using it.
But then at some point in the conference it hit me. I would use Pinterest as a central collection point for photos of interest. Up to then I had always thought about why to post the Speaking Latino photos there.
So, with that in mind, I have created a few Boards (a Pinterest term for subject specific bulletin boards you can set up) for anyone interested to follow us:
1. Spanglish – for the humorous side of Spanish learning and translation.
2. Translation Horrors – for the humorous translations out in the world (not just Spanish translations, but any language).
3. Spanish Teacher Resources – I know that teachers spend a whole lot of time preparing for class so I thought we could collect here examples of language usage, and other resources that would save a little bit of time for our teacher followers.
4. I will also be adding country-specific Boards such as this Chile Board I just started, to organize resources for people interested in a specific country’s Spanish. I’ll have all our humorous drawings from the Speaking Latino books as well as whatever else I run across.
If you would like to suggest photos to include on our boards, please write me a quick note on Twitter (@jaredromey) or Email (firstname.lastname@example.org/). Or, if you prefer, I will give you access to post on these boards. Check out our future boards on www.Pinterest.com/SpeakingLatino. For those of you that have never used Pinterest before, I suggest you check it out. I promise it will be worth the time.
