My Wedding Day

wedding vocabulary
Today’s theme is Wedding Day so I have a couple quick Speaking Latino basic Spanish words for wedding.

The first is voto. I recently learned that this word has two meanings. Many of you probably know that it means vote as in “vote early” and “vote often,” or “I have to go vote today for the next president.” The second, lesser-known meaning is vow, as in “My fianceĆ© and I wrote our own wedding vows.” That’s a two-fer in Spanish.

Part two of Wedding Day is the word for wedding in Spanish. If you have seen this blog before you won’t be surprised to learn that there are different words for different countries. In most Spanish speaking countries the word for wedding is boda however in Argentina it is casamiento. Another word in Spanish is matrimonio. Know any other wedding words? Leave a comment.

Let’s hope it doesn’t rain this afternoon for our wedding ceremony!!
