Master VER Conjugation: Complete Guide for All Tenses

The verb conjugation is one of the most challenging elements of learning Spanish. It can be particularly hard for English speakers as they are not used to so many verb forms in a language. Most Spanish verbs conjugate following a regular pattern, so all it takes to use them properly is to substitute them into the scheme.

However, as in every language, there are also irregular verbs that don’t follow the pattern and need to be learned by heart. Unfortunately, the conjugation of ver is on the more difficult side.

To make the task of learning or teaching these multiple forms a bit easier, we have prepared a comprehensive guide to all the conjugations of ver. Take a look at it, and feel free to use it in your Spanish classes!

When to Use Ver

Ver is applied in the same way as the English “to see”. It can be used to ask whether someone saw a physical object or person, but also in the context of having watched a movie or TV show:

¿Has visto Titanic? - Have you seen Titanic?

Apart from that, this verb is also used to express that somebody notices something:

Él ve la diferencia entre los coches. - He sees the difference between the cars.

Another important use of this verb is to “to check”:

Tienes que ver cuánto tiempo te queda para enviar los documentos. - You have to check (see) how much time you have left to send the documents.

Similar verbs to ver that shouldn’t be confused with it include:

  • observar (to watch/observe)
  • mirar (to look at)
  • echar un vistazo (to have a look at)

Indicative Tenses of Ver With Examples

The indicative mood is introduced at the very beginning of teaching Spanish verbs. It is used for simple descriptions of facts or qualities of a person, situation, or object. It can be used in the present, past, future, and conditional forms.

Take a look at the tables with ver conjugation in the indicative tenses!
